Some Asian families have sky-high aspirations for their children, whether they are putting their children to work harder in class, putting their kids first in piano discipline after school, or imposing strict diets. They think their organism’s joy, future achievements and well- being are centered on their achievement of these goals. They ascribe to their children’s disobedience, respect, and commitment to those objectives.

From Amy Chua’s bestseller Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother discussing her sons’ limitless music classes to studies demonstrating that Asiatic parents are more likely to promote their children ‘ academic and musical accomplishments, there has been a lot of discussion about how Asians are raised. But, these intense parenting variations are not just about researchers– they can also effect children’s mental health.

The issue is that, especially if they are not met, these high standards can cause feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem. Additionally, it can lead to the false impression that one’s worth is based solely on their accomplishments and not on one’s individuality.

Fortunately, effective communication is a key to managing these issues. By engaging in conversational dialogue with your children, you can help them understand their unique talents, aspirations, and difficulties and form a loving relationship with them. This can lessen the pressure of meeting parental expectations while encouraging them to develop a sense of self-worth. Talking with your kids for a while can help them deal with feelings of isolation, depression, or anxiety in a healthy way.
